My sincere condolences on the passing of a father and husband and grandfather. I worked with Vern in the Stelco Hilton Works Mechanical Field Services. Vern was one of my foreman and there were times when we got into a difference of opinions and words got pretty heated standing nose to nose. Time passes and we all mellow and not too long down the road we made up and we were good. Vern was a good guy and was quite the hunter and fisherman. I remember one year around Christmas time the group of us that he looked over all were required to bring something to eat and have a meal together during our shift. Vern brought in venison steaks and cooked them in one of our heating ovens. They were delicious and everyone was more then grateful. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. May he Rest In Peace ✝️ Psalm 46:10 Jerry ( Drdolittle) Martin/ Ironworker :)

Rest eternally Laverne. Many a great chat of work and nature. We spent time as supervisors within the Stelco Field Forces, and later when he took a mechanical foreman position at our #2 Rod Mill. Truly a fine gentleman.

May 20, 1967: A handsome groom with his beautiful bride.
July 21, 1984: Duane Rawlins, Laverne, Kay Gaddye enjoying themselves at Julie and Dean McDonalds wedding.
March 6, 2003: Laverne, Betty, Hannah Norris, Joanne Cope and Christine. Laverne had Betty's birthday cake decorated like the cottage they both loved so much. It was a snowy day so he picked Evan and I up and drove us home after. I don't like driving in bad weather. That's the kind of guy he was. Miss you both, love, Kathy.
