Obituary of Larry Gowland
My beloved husband of 58 years, Larry Gowland, passed away unexpectedly on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, during recovery following surgery at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by his sons Jason (Marilu) and Craig and predeceased by son Paul (2012). Cherished Grandpa of Paul Jr., Ashley, Stiles, Cage, Rachel, Alex (2023) and Jessica. Dear brother of Doug and Amy Gowland and Pat and Marvin Brezden.
He was unconditionally loved by Judy for nearly 60 years. They had truly worked as a team from their first encounter in 1965. Larry was raised on a farm on Mud Street, in Stoney Creek in the 1950’s and 1960’s, He always had a positive outlook and a happy go lucky attitude. As those who knew him would attest, our father would talk to just about anyone he would encounter. Always cheerful and quick with a smile, Larry leaves a void that will be hard to fill. He was a friend to many and a foe to none. In life, he touched many people. Larry will spend eternity in the Mausoleum at our Lady of the Angels Cemetery on Mud Street in Stoney Creek. He will be overlooking the fields on the very farm where he grew up with his parents and siblings prior to becoming a cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, between the hours of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Garth Trails Clubhouse, located at 45 Abbotsford Trail, Hamilton, ON L9B 2X8. Located at the corner of Garth Street and 20 Road. If anyone would like to say a few words about Larry or tell a quick story, there will be an opportunity at 2 pm. The family encourages anyone who wishes to speak to do so. In lieu of flowers, please consider an offering to the charity of your choice.
