Obituary of Douglas George Clause

Loving husband to Elaine Batt. My Love, my sweet, my partner in crime. I love you to the moon and back… Father, brother, husband, Grampy, friend – Doug, you will always live in the many memories we have made with all those that have known and loved you over the last 10 years of our life together.

Doug found great joy in golfing, fishing, travelling with his friends and family and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He loved his Bruins and his Cowboys despite their rough showing this year. His passion for health care was realized when he turned 50 and went back to school to become a Registered Practical Nurse. His love of golf turned into a part-time gig where he was able to practice his craft, even during his illness.

Doug and I want to send our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing group of family and friends that loved and supported us during Doug’s illness and were vital in helping us live each day to its fullest. We couldn’t have done this without you and I know Doug felt so loved during his last weeks.

Special thanks to the amazing teams of nurses and doctors at Juravinski and also at St. Joe’s. We cannot forget the men and women at homecare that guided us to the end.  Special thanks to Bob Kemp Hospice. Doug’s last moments were surrounded by the amazing staff and volunteers whose caring and compassion surpasses none. Canada’s health professionals rock!!!

At Doug’s request, there will be no public service. Donations can be made to Bob Kemp Hospice.
