Obituary of Robert Green
“She went west, and the dogs got her”- this and so many other euphemisms and jokes (often inappropriate), are just one of the things that we will miss about Dad. He had a great sense of humour, loved to tease and could laugh at himself. He loved his single malt scotch, entertaining with Judi, and all other social events. Dad enjoyed telling stories, a game of euchre, cribbage or binocle. While he was not an “athlete”, over the years he enjoyed playing slow pitch, golf, curling and bocce. He had a big presence that will be missed by so many: family, friends and coworkers from Stelco that he made over his 30 year career.
Rob and Judi were best friends and true partners during their 54 year marriage; he was an amazing father, always there for Todd and Melanie and had lots of love and laughs with son-in-law Phil. His favourite role in life was being Papa to Bronwyn and Koen. We are heartbroken that he’s not with us anymore but take some comfort in knowing that he lived life to the fullest, that we were able to enjoy so many amazing moments with him and he is somewhere with Todd again. Thank you to the CV ICU at HGH for your amazing care of both dad and us.
In lieu of flowers, donations to McNally House Hospice or Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation: CV ICU would be appreciated.
Friends and family will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. Celebration of life at a later date.
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
― Hunter S. Thompson
