Obituary of George Burrows

It is with great sadness that the family of George Burrows announce his passing on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 84. George will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Dawn (Pickard). He is the much loved father of Rick (Ann) Burrows, the late Jeff (Jane) Burrows, and step-father to Ryan, Andrew (Jamie), and Tricia (Fred) Courson. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica), Chloe (Robert), Nicholas (Kate), Gordon Matilda(Alan), Penelope, Wyatt, Carter, Olivia, Dawson, Lucas, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Jeffrey. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, sister- in-law Dianna (Ed) Bahula, and brothers-in-law, Maurice (Donna) Pickard and Mark (LuAnn) Pickard. George is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Burrows, his parents Ethel and George Burrows Sr, and his siblings Ethel (Fred) Eastwood, Jack (Terry) Burrows, and Shirley (Garfield) Stacey.

George was born in 1940 in Hamilton, the youngest child of Ethel and George Burrows Sr. He worked in a variety of jobs throughout his career as an electrician. He had a lifelong passion for sport, playing football in his young adult years, coaching his sons in baseball and hockey, and often cheering on his favourite sports teams throughout his life. George's faith was important to him, and he leaves behind many special friends from his Church family. George and Dawn enjoyed hosting friends and family in their home and frequently had others over for games, meals, bible studies, and fellowship. Even as George's health declined, he and Dawn took great pleasure in spending time with others and their friendship and kindness extended to many. George took great comfort in his faith, especially in his final days. He was a great example of faith, friendship, and hospitality and will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

Friends and family will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday, February 22 from 11 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, the family asks that donations be made to Chapman House Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
