Although we had lost touch over the years we knew Dennis to be a happy person with a calm and even disposition. We were so sorry to read of his passing and send our sincere condolences to Diana, David, Jenn and families. May he rest in peace.

In Memory of Dennis Hunt my Stepfather
As my partner Claire and I are unable to attend services for Dennis, I’d like to share a couple indelible memories.
When I was introduced to Dennis at around 8 years old, my first impression was WOW, this guy is handsome, just my Mom’s type.. dark haired, swarthy Mediterranean look. He’s a keeper. Fast forward a couple years when my Mom, Diana, was pregnant with David and we four (Den, Diana, Tracey and me) were camping on the island at Uncle George’s property on Long lake, we were awakened in the morning by the wing-drumming of a partridge while, simultaneously, unborn David was kicking in my Mom’s womb. The sound combined with the kicking caused some confusion at the time as to the sound’s origin and the hilarity of the moment eventually gave birth to David’s least favourite middle name. Innumerable good times were had as a family at Uncle George’s. I miss him greatly too.
As time passed and as a young man, Dennis and I never really saw eye to eye on most issues of consequence, though we always shared our love for camping, canoeing and fishing, which he instilled in me at a young age. For this I will always be grateful, as this love of nature has been with me ever since. Later on, and years after he’d retired from his Corrections position, we’d even got to addressing each other as Dad and Son. Sometimes even the simplest things take decades to achieve.
I will always remember Dennis for his work ethic and love of family and nature. I will hold these fond memories of Dennis too numerous to recount and the good times we shared in my heart and mind. I hope, wherever he lands, there’s a canoe, a couple paddles, fishing rods and a lake filled with fish so that I can be welcomed for a shore lunch with him and Uncle George when it’s my time.
Blessings and condolences are extended from us both to all of my immediate and extended family.

P.S... Just wanted to say a little something to Den's side of the family. I'll never forget all the Boxing Days held at John and Mary's home for many years. Mary and others were always so generous with their time and passion for making the turkey and lasagne as moist as possible along with the festive atmosphere they created in their home. I can still see Chuck and Lena overseeing the gift disbursement for us kids usually done by John. I remember Aunt Edith and Uncle George, June and George, Andrea, Joel and Danny as though it was yesterday. So I'd just like to say thanks ever so much for all your love.. and if we didn't
seem grateful as kids, rest assured, as an adult, your efforts were and are much appreciated. Blessings all.

Our deepest condolences, Aunt Diana, Dave, Jenn and to your partners, children and Aunt Mary and Uncle John as well. Uncle Dennis was always a wonderful role model and I have fond memories from my childhood of time spent together on boxing day and other family reunions. I especially remember his love for nature and the outdoors and his calm, cool, collected disposition. A wonderful Uncle.
Frank and I send our love and sympathy during this difficult time of grief. Andrea Hunt Raco.

I am a longtime friend of Sue Little and her sister June Roosevelt. I became a member of the Cousin's Gathering ?2017 -2018.
Of course, I had met Dennis and Mary at celebrations for Sue and June's parents. Dennis was a delight to talk to and be with.
I loved his sense of humour and his warmth. I hope these words bring support to his family at this time of loss.
Much love to his family, Jody Wingerson

Diana, Jenn, and David:
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dennis. Whenever Mom took the family out for Easter or another special occasion, it was always enjoyable talking with Dennis. Diana, you and Dennis often sat at the end of the table close to Mom and me and that gave us a chance to have a good chat.
I realized that he was not doing well when I saw him at the Celebration of Life for my brother Ken. You will miss him, but I hope that your memories really help, just as the memories of my brother help me.
You are in my thoughts, Lynn (Inrig) Skillen

Growing up next door to the Hunt family brings back many memories of our good neighbours on Upper Walker. We always looked up to Don, Dennis and Mary as they all had a go at babysitting my brother and I. I have to say Dennis was the most fun. I am very sad to read of his passing, and offer my sincere condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
