Jimmy, making sense of the journey of the past 2 weeks and your passing is impossible and its own form of torture. We haven’t been able to spend a lot of family time together in recent years, but I am grateful to have been able to sit beside your hospital bed for so many hours in the past few weeks, and through the night before you left us irrevocably. Though you couldn’t speak, either to express your thoughts, choices, or opinions, I believe you could hear every word spoken, and the music played in the headphones we shared - I have that playlist saved. I believe that the God who was busy knitting you together in mom’s womb 69 years ago was ministering to your spirit even while your body was not functioning-for reasons that remain a mystery. And because I trust Him above all else, I believe I will see you again. He did not leave you alone or forget you, and He knows the answers to the questions that plague many of us now. And I believe He welcomed you, and you have those answers. We may have to wait.
Until then…I love you and will miss you, big brother…until then I will choose to remember happier and healthier days.
