Dear David and family. I am so sorry to hear of your losses in the past month. We were neighbours to Earl and Rose on Killins for a few years and grew to love Earl and Rose like grandparents. I always loved watching Earl puttering around his yard and setting up his display of Christmas lights each year. We especially thought it was so sweet that he would decorate the backyard for Rose to enjoy through the kitchen window. Our children have fond memories of chatting with him as well. On my most recent visit with Earl I had the pleasure of listening to him play the organ. What a talent! May our heavenly Father surround you with strength and peace as you move forward. Love the Jansen's

Dear David, we are so shocked to hear of the passing of your dad. We were neighbours for over 30 years in Smithville and just loved your mom and dad. He was the kindest man and were such great neighbours. Definitely his gardening skills were way better than ours but we tried to keep up with the grass in the front yard. He had such perfect grass we were always asking for his secrets on what he does. We will miss him and Melanie. So sorry for your losses. Please let us know when you are going to have his celebration of life because we would love to attend. You can find me on Facebook. We still live in Smithville. Thinking of you at this very difficult time. Lynnette & Doug Goodale and family.

Mr. Prosser was my best friend's dad and one of the nicest people I've ever known. He was unfailingly kind even when he was kidding us about our questionable teenage choices. As I recall, he learned to play Sloop John B. on the keyboards at a time when we (well most of us) were listening to a lot of Beach Boys music and that made him great in another way. He also sold me the car I used daily to get back and forth between Stoney Creek and Lake Erie. Of course, he sold it to me at way under market value. The world could definitely use more Earl Prossers!!
Dave and Trish - my heart goes out to you for all that you've lost these past few months. You're never far from my thoughts and especially so during this time.

In the early 70s, my first real job was at Westinghouse (Aberdeen location),in the Accounting department Earl was my boss, and a wonderful one he was. He was always positive and encouraging in his role. I loved his sense of humour, and we shared many good laughs. He spoke so often and proudly of his wife and children, that I felt like I knew them personally. He wrote me the most wonderful reference letter, that I used for many job applications, and believed his kind words gave me a definite advantage, as I was selected for many positions I applied for. (lucky me!). When Rose passed, I came to see him at the visitation. I was so happy, to have had those few minutes, to tell him how he he had affected my life. He was a very special man. My condolences to his family.
Sincerely
Carrolle Kenney

I have had the honour of knowing Earl Prosser for 30 years, since I started dating his daughter Melanie and whom I then married. Earl always came across as a quiet and humble person. But it was a quiet dignity that he carried himself with, along with a modest sense of pride for all that he ably accomplished in his work life and in his family life, both of which he loved with a passion.
Work life, whether it was his career or simply doing chores and yard work at home, kept him happy and busy. But it was his family life that was by far the biggest source of pride in Earl’s life. It was something that anybody could easily see in his eyes whenever he would talk fondly about his family. He was an incredibly devoted husband to his wife Rose, especially so during her last few years. And Earl was also a supportive and caring father to his son Dave and his daughter Melanie, both of whom he beamed with pride over their life accomplishments and the noble character that he and Rose had nurtured within them.
As his son-in-law, I never really had much in common with Earl, often finding it difficult to make small talk with him. Eventually, I learned that we could engage in lively discussions regarding politics. But it was still just small talk. Where you really got to know Earl was when he opened up on a more personal level, and I’ll never forget those occasional times when he did so with me. When he told me about his younger days working in a munitions factory during wartime. That time when he heroically piloted a small plane during an emergency landing and managed to safely execute the landing with only minimal damage. And the adorable memories that he lovingly recalled about his efforts at courting his future wife when he was a young man hopelessly in love.
When you’ve heard these fascinating stories, and how many of them there were, you quickly realize that Earl Prosser lived a long and interesting life full of incredible experiences. And this is what we celebrate. Earl is survived by his son Dave who proudly lives his own life with dignity, pride and a moral character that was taught to him by his father. In this way, Earl’s legacy lives on.
