Bob was intelligent, energetic, and he had the courage of his convictions. I admired him for his contributions to the community and to public education.
Bob was dedicated to the cause of uniting Ontario's public and Catholic school systems into one, single, truly public system, free of discrimination and wasteful duplication costs.
Bob, you will be missed!

Our hearts go out to your family in this most trying time. Bob was a man of unique character. He had many passions, and qualities that many people could only dream of having. It is tragic that Bob has left our world, the very place he is needed, too early. Please accept our deepest condolences in your loss.

When I heard the news about Bob, I was totally shocked. How could he have left this world at the age of 47?
Upon moving to Hamilton almost 30 years ago, Bob was one of the first people I met. I worked at Pee Wee's and Bob would come in after bowling with his buddies. He and I became friends right away, and stayed friends all of these years. Our children met him through their years at baseball.
He was there though thick and thin for everyone. He was a best buddy to everyone.
Bob will truly be missed. I believe God took him because he needed a wonderful new Angel in Heaven.

Mr. Barlow was an outstanding advocate for parents who had to deal with the labyrinth that is educational bureaucracy. My wife Leanne and I were both so pleased with the efforts he put forth to ensure our children's needs came first. The Board will have big cleats to fill in the future. Our deepest condolences to the Barlow family.

I will always remember Bob as one of the first people I met when I became involved in the NDP in Hamilton after I moved here more than a decade ago. He was one who knew the party, new how to run a great election campaign, always stood up for the rights of workers. His passion for public education was reflected in the outstanding work he did as a trustee at the HWDSB. Bob you will be sorely missed. My condolences to Nick and to family and friends who worked so closely with Bob.

Bob Barlow was a gentle soul who fought for students in the most diplomatic way. He will be fondly remembered for his thought-provoking and humorous speeches at Orchard Park's annual Awards Assembly and Commencement Ceremony. Bob would never miss an opportunity to celebrate student success and to connect with students, teachers and the people who elected him. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.... but he will be sadly missed. R.I.P., dear sir !

Thank you for standing for all worker's rights.I loved our years in political action because of your honesty and integrity and humour. Commencement at Orchard park will not have that wonder filled moment when you spoke from the heart and made us all laugh and remember how important a good education is and to always try to do our best.
