Obituary of Philip William Merinchuk

MERINCHUK, Philip William

Passed away with family by his side on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, Hamilton, at the age of 81. Predeceased by his parents William and Mary Merinchuk. Cherished husband to Betty for 61 years. Loving father to Susie Buono and her husband Paul, Beth Merinchuk and her spouse Lloyd Griffett, Philip Merinchuk and his wife Cathie, Eric Merinchuk and his wife Monica, and Debra L. Rowe. Proud grandfather to Teresa, Nick (Samantha), Natalie (Adam), Kyle (Teresa), Jayce (Caitlin), Sarah, and Taylor. Great-grandfather to Logan, Emily, Bella, and Avery. Survived by his sister Helen Franceschini and her husband Bruno. Phil will also be missed by his schnauzer Teigan. Phil Merinchuk was a family man. Wherever he went, people gravitated toward him as he was always ready with a joke and a smile. An outdoorsman and Northener at heart, he often had a ball cap on his head and a camera in hand ready to capture the moments. He loved people and loved to drive, so after retiring from Dofasco, volunteered to drive the Haldimand County Senior Support van. He instilled a love of nature in his children and enjoyed his hunting trips with Tim Bennet and his brother-in-law Bruno. Thanks to Dr. J. Bulger and Dr. M. Cheung for years of caring. Thanks to the many PSW’s and nurses from the LHIN-CCAC for their home support, and for the Bob Kemp Hospice who warmly welcomed us when we needed them. There will be a private celebration of Phil’s life held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil’s memory to the Haldimand Norfolk Community Senior Support Services or the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca.
