Obituary of Jack (John A.) MacDonald

MacDONALD, Jack (John A.)

On November 3, 2017 it is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jack at the age of 72.  Beloved husband of Valerie and the late Anna.  Loving father of Kari Dinter, her husband Scott, and their sons Ty, Karter and Dante Dinter of Edmonton, Alberta.  He also leaves behind daughter Shelly Kellett and her husband Rob and their children Brittany Kellett, Tori DiIulo and her husband Mike.  He will also be missed by his precious great grandchildren Alexi Kellett and Noah DiIulo.  Jack loved his family and mine.  He will be greatly missed by my sons Jason, Steven, his wife Sandra, John Maher and grandchildren Shieanne, Aidan and Avery.  He will be remembered by his sisters Marguerite Tate, Jeanette Saab, Kay Miles, Janice Grant, brother Alec and their families all of Nova Scotia.  At the age of 17, Jack sailed out of Halifax and Hantsport, NS for 5 years.  He came to Ontario in 1967 and worked at Ford Motor Company for 37 ½ years.  He lived life to the fullest and was one of a kind!  He was special with his easy manner, charm, wit and humour.  He would talk to anyone and everyone.  Jack was always so proud of being from Cape Breton and told many stories and jokes.  As they say, “you can take the man out of Nova Scotia, but you can’t take Nova Scotia out of the man!”  Jack and I married in 2007 and those 10 years were full of many happy memories of our trips and special winters in Florida.  A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their wonderful care.  As per Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  “Where the roses never fade...I am going to a city where the streets with gold are laid, where the tree of life is blooming and the roses never fade.  Here they bloom but for a season, soon their beauty is decayed; I am going to a city where the roses never fade.”  I love you my darling Jackie.  You will remain with me until my time and we will go together where the roses never fade.  Donations in Jack’s memory to a Food Bank would be appreciated.
