Obituary of Barbara Lindsay

LINDSAY, Barbara (Nee Parrott) It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing of Barbara on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in her 95th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bruce of forty nine years, sister Norma Elizabeth (Betty) and brother Norton (Nort). Barbara was a much loved Mother of son James and his late wife Mary Ann; her daughter Susan Carpenter and husband Greg. Nana was greatly cherished by her grandchildren Mark, Christine, Victoria and Andrew. She was Great Nana to Emily, Mia, Logan, Nathan and Moira. Barbara was an excellent golfer and was an active and life member of the Glendale Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed curling there also. She was an active member of the Girl Guides of Canada for over fifty years. In Stoney Creek, she started and was the leader of the 1st Brownie Pack and was a Guide Leader for many years. She became the Area Commissioner, District Commissioner and member of the National Executive of The Girl Guides of Canada. Barbara was an accomplished painter, loved travelling the world and was a member of the Church of The Redeemer her whole life from age three. Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. The Funeral will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at The Church of Our Saviour The Redeemer, 25 Lake Avenue S., Stoney Creek at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Stoney Creek Cemetery. Memorial Donations to The Church of Our Saviour The Redeemer or Girl Guides of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
