Obituary of Shirley Muriel McKay

McKAY, Shirley Muriel (nee Innes/Armstrong) Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Cortland McKay (2012) of 64 years. Cherished mother of Cortland Jr. (Marg), David (Linda), Anne Lewis (John), Susan Castelli (Albert) and Dennis. Loved sister of Irene Steinman (Don) Dorothy Thomson (late Keith), Jean Huneault (late Rudy), John Armstrong (June), Bill Armstrong (Carol), Charlotte Langkammer (Mel), Muriel Dayves (late Bill) Nancy Stirling (Ken) and the late Chuck. Dear sister-in-law of Russell (Edna), Myrtle Armstrong (late Doug), Mildred Crumb (late Danny), Clarence (Fran), James (late Marlene), Charles (Chris) and the late Janet Souter and infant Clara. Predeceased by her parents Rebecca and Charles Martin and in-laws Russell and Amanda McKay. Survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Shirley was a volunteer with the VON and Stoney Creek Food Bank for many years. She was also a charter member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church. Very special thanks and God Bless you all at Orchard Terrace Nursing Home for your tender loving care for Mom.....she loved you all! Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Dunnville. In Shirley’s memory, donations to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
